WHEELING, W.Va. (October 24, 2007) — Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center’s new Poker Room celebrated its grand opening this weekend with hundreds of guests visiting from across the tri-state region. The Poker Room saw steady action for three days with all of its 20 tables full just 2 hours after opening and a waiting list for those still wanting to play.
“We are extremely pleased with this weekend’s outcome. Our dealers did a fantastic job,” states Bob Marshall, President & General Manager at Wheeling Island. “There was a lot of excitement and a positive feeling from the Poker Room and the crowd.”
While the weekend turnout for those playing their first hand of Poker at Wheeling Island was impressive, Wheeling Island starts the new week with open Poker tables ready to serve guests.
“Even during our very busy opening this weekend, guess only experienced a 45 minute wait time,” added Marshall. “We are confidant players will be able to be accommodated throughout the gaming day at Wheeling Island”
