Charity poker events proceeds will benefit local charity groups
WHEELING, W.Va.— Wheeling Island Racetrack & Gaming Center announces they will host two charity poker events on Monday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 4pm-8pm in their newly constructed Poker Room.
All proceeds will benefit The Wheeling Island WISH Foundation, Family Services Upper Ohio Valley, Wheeling Health Right, YWCA, The United Way-Upper Ohio Valley and Soup Kitchen of Greater Wheeling.
Bob Marshall, President and General Manager of Wheeling Island said the charity poker events will serve two purposes; first, to give our local charities an opportunity to raise money for their organizations and second, to provide additional hands-on training for dealers and simulate the poker room operations as it pertains to the approved lottery regulations prior to our official grand opening.
“It is really exciting to see our Poker Room and Poker dealers in action,” said Marshall. “The next two days will be a soft opening to fine-tune operational details as we prepare to open our new Poker Room to our guests. If all goes well, we will be ready to open within the week,” said Marshall.
Guests who pay a $20 charitable donation at the Poker Room door will receive $100 in play chips, complimentary refreshments and an entry for daily door prize drawings.
